It is spring, I declared it.

While we were outside playing on Monday, Sarah asked me, is it spring? How do you explain to a 4-year-old that it's still winter when she's wearing flip-flops and basking in sunshine?  Yes, it is spring.  At least until it snows again.

I'm pretty sure I suffer from seasonal affective disorder. I get really sad and lose my will to do anything most days during the winter.  Anytime the sun broke through, I stood at my sliding glass door with my eyes closed, facing the sun just basking in it's life-giving light, near tears.  Plus I spent all of January not eating sweets. I may not do that again.

I've been reading and hearing a lot of whining about daylight savings and it should stop. DST is awesome. Switching isn't great but the key is to stop thinking about it. Change that last clock and don't dwell on the fact that you could still be asleep right now.  You can stay outside and play until near 7 in the evening and that's worth the hour of lost sleep. Heck, how many hours have you stayed up too late dinking around on the interwebs? Wah.

And one last thing, I love Easter. It is fast-becoming my favorite holiday (sorry Christmas). But the worst thing that Easter can do is come early. Remember last year when it was near the end of April? That was heaven. Easter in March shortens my Cadbury and Peeps eating time and I need that time after the winter we've had. I'm just going to have to kick it up a notch to get it all in. First-world problem, right here.

Alright, here are the kiddos.

Sarah started out shaping a roll for her dad. By the time she was done, it was the size of my thumb.  This girl can't help tasting as she shapes.
Sarah made a bunch of clocks out of paper plates.
If you ever need to know what time it is, just look at my fridge. Or my front door or back door. We've got clocks galore.
Love my pretty girl. I need to print this picture and look at it every time she puts her hands on her hips and yells, "No, I'm only going to do what I want to do and only what I choose!"
I can't get Henry to sit in his highchair anymore. This has some drawbacks, like that his eating mess can cover the entire table.  And that he can get down by himself and run around the house covered in yogurt before I realize he's left the table and then I have to chase him down to clean him up, not to mention the yogurt smeared everywhere.
I was teaching Sarah all the different coins and what is worth what, and what makes up what, and what not.  I held up a penny and said, "What's this?" "Nickel?" she answered. "No, p-p" I hinted. "Pickle!" She was so proud.
Here's another drawback of Henry no longer sitting in his highchair. He can climb right up in a seat and start serving himself some food before dinner. He dished up some rice and bit into a couple of oranges.
Sarah and Henry play really well together for the most part. Sarah likes having someone to play with and Henry likes to do what Sarah does.....
Even if it means wearing a pink apron.
Sarah is asking me if I want chocolate cake and ice cream.  Don't even ask, just bring it (Name the movie).
Sarah is getting really good at card games. I am getting really sick of Go-Fish so I taught her Crazy 8's.
She thinks it's funny she has two 8's.
She's a natural which can be expected being raised by two expert card players.
Henry has also given up on his straw cup. This is now his cup of choice. I guess he likes to get a good look at what he's drinking as it pours to his mouth
I now clean up spills multiple times a day, every day.  And it's not from him spilling while drinking, it's Henry spilling on purpose. He likes to dump out cups. I have to make sure to keep my table clear of any partially filled cups because Henry will take a sip and then see what happens when he pours it out on the table. Mama gets mad and makes you wipe it up, Henry. Every time. So knock it off.

Sarah may have gotten confused when I told her it was spring and went straight for summer.
This is my wisely dressed child at that same moment.  It was no that warm.
I love lunch outside. I don't have to worry about the mess and the kids actually eat more because it's a picnic and that's way more fun than at the table.
See how sweet she is? Just wait.
Henry used Sarah's oven mitt to stir and taste the potting soil.
Ah, this is more like it. Henry spitting something out he shouldn't have eaten and Sarah whining about having to put clothes back on after trying on her new swimming suit.  She put on pj's in protest and I was getting an earful.
He worked on it getting that dirt out for quite awhile.
So there you have it, all the Dye kids you can handle.
