Kind of a smile

She smiles all the time now but they are even harder to capture on camera than the ones when she was sleeping. This is the closest thing and I think it's pretty dang cute. Enjoy!

See Me Grow

While I type with one hand and hold a fussy, bored baby with the other, I can't help but notice how small Sarah's newborn clothes are getting. And by small, I mean actually fit.
My purple-people-eater the day we left the hospital.

My purple-people-eater 7 weeks later after she's eaten a few people.

She has hands and arms...somewhere.

There they are!

Funny thing, I still get comments on how tiny she is. If they only knew.

Hat Time

Sarah has yet to give me a true smile. There have been some close ones but none I feel confident as claiming as her first smile. But I am convinced that it won't be me or Justin that will get her first toothless grin but that honor will go to her pink hat. I bought this bright pink hat on clearance for a dollar before she was born. It hangs above where we change her diapers and she stares at it the entire time. Well she used to just stare at it but now she gets so excited to see it, kicking her legs and waving her arms. You'd think it lit up or twirled watching her reaction. Sometimes when she's being fussy, we'll give her "hat time" and it calms her down....until she figures out I'm using it to actually get something done.

One month old

On Thanksgiving, Sarah turned 1 month. Apparently she was having mixed emotions about it that day.

Turkey Bowl

The grand tradition returns. Justin and his friends plus some random people got together for the Turkey Bowl. What was the final score? I don't know. Were there set teams? Maybe. Who called the plays? What plays? All that matters is that when they were done, they were tired and sore. Good job kids, see you next year.

This is how Sarah watched the game.

Big 8 Tag

I've been tagged so here goes.

8 Favorite TV shows (well here are 8 shows I watch. Only The Office is a true favorite that I watch every week. The rest I'll watch if I happen to catch them.)

* The Office
* Law & Order SVU
* CSI: NY
* Samantha Who? (just started watching this)
* American Idol (that's how I survive the dead of winter...carries me right thru to spring)
* Friends re-runs
* Supernanny
* And I can't think of a last one. I can think of tons that I hate. Daytime TV is the worst, no wonder people get jobs.

8 Things I Did Yesterday (yesterday was Sunday so I didn't do much. But to be honest, I don't do much these days)

* Stayed home from church because Sarah has a cold.
* Ate waffles and eggs for breakfast
* Made Justin a toasted cheese sandwich and soup
* Folded laundry
* Watched SNL clips on NBC.com
* Held Sarah for like 4 hours straight
* Watched way more football than I ever care to again
* Watched Anne of Green Gables on PBS

8 Things I'm Looking Forward To

* Putting up my Christmas tree (if Justin will help me)
* Justin finishing this semester
* Sarah smiling while awake (I've never wanted someone to smile so bad in my life!)
* Sarah sleeping more than 3 hours straight during the night
* Start exercising again. I miss rollerblading so bad!
* Christmas of course. It will be fun to have a baby around this year and better yet, she won't know if I buy her anything or not.
* Seeing Justin's family in a few weeks. His dad and brother haven't met Sarah yet.
* Pretty much watching Sarah grow and learn. I never thought I'd get such a kick out of the littlest things.

8 Things on My Wishlist

* Justin to finish school
* A good night sleep
* Flatscreen computer monitor
* A warm winter without snow
* A good book to read
* To somehow not get sick all winter
* Go on a date with my husband
* To have all my family together

I'm with Mel, I don't like tagging people because I'm afraid of forgetting someone. So if you're reading this, consider yourself tagged!

Lightning Smiles

Capturing Sarah's smile is like taking a picture of lightning. You have to be quick and you never know if it's going to happen or not. She smiles only when she's asleep, in that eye-fluttery, mouth moving time when I feel I'm eavesdropping on her heavenly conversations. After carrying her all day, trying to keep her entertained, you'd think once she fell asleep I'd want to put her down. But it is in those quiet, still moments, I want to hold her the most. I sometimes feel the veil is very thin for her, and these smiles are a window into her other world.

Look Who's Awake

I'm not sick of looking at her so how could you be? I don't think 12 minutes of her life has ever been so well documented. I took 67 pictures, some are blurry, some identical, most are cute. Here are some of my favorites.

And, in related news, she had her 2 week check-up on Monday. She gained 13 oz and grew 2 inches in 2 weeks! Glad all this feeding isn't for nothing. Her doctor says she's perfect! I knew that already but it's nice to hear it from someone who delivers babies for a living.

Watching Football

There's nothing like falling asleep during a good football game. Justin does it out of relaxation, I do it out of boredom. I think Sarah looks bored so she's like me. But I think this may be a recurring pose for these two this season.

And another one of her sleeping. She actually is awake a lot, but she gets annoyed pretty quick with the camera when she's awake, thus more sleeping pictures.

Happy Birthday Mom

My mom turned 60 on Thursday! I'm so proud of her. There are only 6 candles on this cake so I guess at a certain age, one candle represents 10 years. And that's Sarah, not wanting to be left out of the action.

Justin has a good non-smiling face, doesn't he? If I'm not smiling in pictures, I just look ornery. And if I'm smiling, I look cheesy. I chose cheesy this time.

One week old

Is it weird I already am afraid she's growing up too fast? Sure her clothes don't fit and that binky is super huge for her face but I like her just the way she is. Before she was born, I was nervous for the newborn stage, so fragile, so needy. But now I want her to stay little forever!

This is how she sleeps most of the time. I think she's trying to cover her ears.

Going for a walk

Saturday I really needed to get out of the house so we went up to Hobble Creek so Justin could fish and Sarah and I could enjoy the rare 70 degree weather. It may be our first and last outing til spring.
Sarah makes this face a lot. This time it was because the loud lady in the parking lot was annoying her. She annoyed us all.

Ah, far away from annoying lady taking a million pictures of dead trees.

See if you can spot Justin. Justin went down to the river whilst I walked on the path. On our way back, we passed Justin up. I wasn't looking for him and I'm surprised I found him. Atleast I think it's him.

Sixth File, Sixth Picture

I've been tagged. Here's the 6th picture in my 6th file on my computer. It's from August 17, 2006, my graduation day from BYU when I got my BA in Communications. Justin and I had been married for just 3 months and my parents were still living in Alaska. In fact, we left that next day to visit them as my graduation present. I forgot how short my hair was.

Now I tag Meredith, Nicky, Annie and Kirsta (and anyone who wants to)

Question for you experienced bloggers

So I was wondering why some pictures I post will link to their full-size version and others don't. I thought it was the small ones that do but I'm finding that's not always the case. How do I do it?

More pictures

She's Here!

It took me a little longer to get these posted but she's worth the wait, I promise. We named her Sarah Nadine and she was born on Monday, weighing in at 6 lbs 9 oz. She's so teeny, I'm having a hard time finding clothes that she can keep her arms in the sleeves. She's just so adorable. It's amazing how captivating Justin and I find her. We could just watch her sleep forever.

Mullet Man

Don't worry, Justin's not going thru a "I'm about to become a dad" crisis. I asked him if he wanted me to cut his hair before the baby came since I didn't know when I'd be able to get around to it after. So he got started all by himself and created a mullet.

"You can do it however you want. That's what's so cool."

"I actually like it. Is it bad that I actually really like it?"
Yes, it is too bad, Mullet Man. I made him finish off the job. Remember when Stephanie cut off Uncle Jesse's mullet on Full House? Had he been given more time to get attached, it could have been as devastating. But I think he could have given Bono a run for his money 20 years ago. Next year's Halloween costume?
