Super cute sidenote: These are the glasses Erica picked out at her eye appointment. She left her glasses on the lawn of the church in Seattle. She realized it while in the uber ride to the airport and asked, "When am I due for a new pair of glasses." I should have known but she didn't fess up until the next day.
Sarah also got her eyes checked. Our doctor is in our ward but has been our eye doctor before we moved to Mapleton. We coincidentally moved a couple of blocks away from him but we weren't in the same ward until the boundaries changed 18 months ago. We called him Brother Doctor Seiter at our appointment but only at our appointment.
Alrighty, onto to the 4th. This girl made us patriotic pancakes.
Henry made us bacon and Sarah made buttermilk syrup. After watching a bunch of Independence Day themed Youtube videos, we cleaned the house, ate lunch and then went out for ice cream at the most patriotic ice cream place in the county, Brookers Founding Flavors. We don't have many 4th traditions but this is one when we are in town.
We even splurged for the flag cones.
James has a gift for getting ice cream everywhere.
True Americans, right here.
Then we went home and watched Remember the Titans and waited for it to be not so hot. When it was hot but not so hot, we went outside where I got some sweet shots of them throwing the ball around.
Burgers for dinner. It's the American way.
Corn on the cob, potato chips, fruit, and homemade lemonade. Then American brownies for dessert.
Then it was time for Sidewalk of Fire!
It's pretty fun to see neighbors' fireworks light the sky all around us. Sometimes we didn't know which direction to look.
Justin bought too many fireworks. We were out there until nearly 11pm. The kids and Justin loved it.
On my walk the next day I found someone that
Happy birthday, America. And thank you with all the gratitude in my heart to those men and women who had the guts and fortitude to make it happen.
