What'd you do?

Sarah likes to "help" me unload the silverware from the dishwasher. She dropped a knife and she kept saying this, over and over. It took me a few times to get that she was saying, "What'd you do?"

She gets it from me, of course. Anytime she messes up the computer or TV, I say, "Oh no, Sarah. What'd you do?" But not in a mad way. I thought for sure she catch onto saying "Oh no." She pretty much says this all the time now. Drops her milk. "What'd you do?" Runs her horse into the wall. "What'd you do?" Guy knocking down pins in the bowling alley. "What'd you do?"

Wednesday we fed ducks with Kenzie and her daughter Malea. When we weren't holding back our girls from walking straight into the pond, it was pretty fun.

Sarah loves ducks.

Here's Sarah eating the bread and chasing her beloved ducks.

Sarah ran from me but I cut her off and took this picture. You can tell by her face she likes being chased.

And this is just in case you didn't already think she has the most angelic face ever.

Saturday we bowled with Justin's brother Nate and his girlfriend Sam. I like going bowling at BYU since it's pretty family friendly but I don't like that all the 8-pound balls are already taken by the six-year-olds. Good thing we had this ramp or I wouldn't have lasted. I bowled a 64 which coincidentally was also my last mini-golf score.

And by the way, if you take your 17-month-old who wants to run down every lane and knock down the pins, it's definitely exercise.

Sarah was pretty confused by how heavy the bowling ball was.

Here's my DI find of the month. $1. Here's the before shot. They were so gross I almost didn't buy them but I really didn't want to buy new sandals for $10 that by the end of her first day outside were going to look like this anyway. The bottoms looked like the previous owner trampled through a bunch of wet cereal, gum and then grass and mud.

After a good scrubbing. So go ahead, Sarah. Do your worst. I won't even get mad.

Close-up Awesomeness

Justin wanted this picture posted since it captures the awesomeness of his Uni-Bomberesque. I posted the other shot since it captured the awesomeness of shamrock socks. Lucky for you at home, you now get both.

Happy Spring to You!

Seems like every day Sarah can say a new word. Here's her comprehensive list, roughly in order.
Ball, hi, day, bye, cheese, shoes, train, book, no, yeah, crash, socks, splash, all done, hat, show, shake, swing, Pooh (Winnie the Pooh).

Anything glaringly missing from the list? Mom and Dad perhaps? She knows the signs for more, down, milk and please. She can also make the sound of a cow, sheep, dog, chicken and pig. But she just ignores me or thinks I'm being silly when I try to get her to say mom.

But why would she need to? I'm always right there.

Anyway, onto the best day all winter--the last day of winter. Check out this guy in the black hoodie, black hat and sunglasses. I thought he was a kidnapper so I took his picture just in case.

Just kidding, it's Justin lounging about. And I'm so glad I got the lady in the pink pants in this photo. I love everything about her outfit but I love the shamrock socks the most. 3 days after St. Patrick's Day even.

Sarah celebrated the first day of spring by finding her winter hat in the closet and wearing it while watching Looney Tunes.

Sarah likes to watch stuff bake in the oven (She learned it from me). She's saying "swing, swing" as she sways her little bum. I like her.

Adventures with Nature

I felt a little bad that my child's only real exposure to wildlife are the birds in parking lots, so I decided to take Sarah to feed the ducks on Thursday.

She needs to work on her throwing but she had enthusiasm.

Saturday we went to the Bean Museum at BYU. Sarah went crazy. If she's this excited about dead animals, just wait til we go to the zoo. But I think she liked having room to run rather than the actual animals.

I don't remember what kind of animal this is, but I liked it enough to get my picture taken with it.

Sarah liked it too.

"Sarah, where are his eyes?"

This was a hit with all the toddlers.

She really used her arms stretched out to round this corner. It was hilarious.

I wish I was taking video of this. Right when Justin sat her down, she roared quietly at the tiger.

The Giggle Heard Round the World.

You know when you spend $3 at Target and you know it's going to change your life?

She's never laughed harder than that.

No one can sport a onesie like my little one.

Forget growth charts. I can track Sarah's growth by her highchair.

March 2009. First day in her highchair.

March 2010.

She's done this with her toes since she was tiny.

Sarah spent a few minutes rearranging the fridge. Right now she's working on my bottles under the bathroom sink.

Longest Post or Greatest Post?

Sarah goes crazy being inside all day so even if it's cold, we go out for a few minutes. She's still getting used to walking outside on uneven ground but she loves every second of it.

She feels it's her civic duty to pick up any stray rocks and put them back where they belong. Why do kids love rocks so much?

Last Friday we went to Jumping Jack's for Kenzie's daughter Malea's 2nd birthday. Sarah would have gotten trampled so we stuck to the entrances.

But she had the most fun running along the floor. This might be how we finish our basement.

Along with scissors and food--women, falling down and men with boys are not allowed.

On to Valentine's day. Justin made me dinner. It was hot.

I made Justin cinnamon rolls. They smelled and looked better than they tasted.

The Towel Bandit rode thru my kitchen yesterday. She cleaned out the drawer and was off again.

Typical Sarah. She packs her milk around all day. (The Towel Bandit struck again)

Milk? Check. Tiny box of floss? Check.

Sarah suddenly started doing actions to the songs we sing all the time. I'm not sure if this was the song her actions go to but it was still cute.

And I love how she does Peek-a-Boo. Please no one try to correct her.

Sarah can get away with anything while I'm fixing dinner.

And I'm beginning to think she knows it. I swept twice and a third time wouldn't have hurt.

Sometimes I take Sarah's picture and she looks so grown up. It's like a sneak peek at the future Sarah.

And then she's all baby again.

Yes, that's the remote in her hand. She doesn't hit the trail without it.

No, I'm not a licensed hair-cutter.

I cut Sarah's hair today and instantly regretted it. I had been thinking about it for awhile and it needed to be done. (The back center was thinner and shorter from her bald spot.) I took off more than I had planned since cutting a 1-year-old's hair acurately is nearly impossible and it's going to take some getting used to. I miss her piggy tails. And it's taken months off her age. She looks 10 months again. But her hair grows fast so I know by the summer, she'll be all pig-tailed again. Of course, she had no idea even as I was cutting it nor has noticed a difference....other than being annoyed that I've touched her head like 100 times since.

Luckily she has a pretty face.

15 Months Old

Here are her stats:
27 7/8 inches long
18 lbs 12 oz

8 teeth plus 2 molars coming in.

She can say "hi", ''bye'', ''ball'', ''cheese'', ''please'', ''yeah'' and she knows the signs for milk, more and please. She's made one up for ''down'' too. She also says 'sup' a lot which I think means, 'what's that/this?' And she also counts things by saying "a....b."

There are so many things to love about this picture. The drool, the fat lip, the squinty eyes.

Here's my little crayon bandit fleeing the scene. You can't really see it in this picture, but it's there--a green mark on the wall. The crayons are now out of reach but I have a feeling this is the first of many.

I was getting tired of Sarah getting into the cabinet with the crackers and dumping the crackers onto the floor so I switched them out with the measuring cups and food storage containers. Big improvement, huh? It took her all of 10 seconds to clear it out.

Here's Sarah talking on a phone that doesn't work, to someone who's not there, in a language that doesn't exist. Usually there's laughter but this conversation sounded more serious.
